A = 5 miles = constant y = height of the rocket L = distance between the rocket and the station find dy/dt when y = 4 miles, dL/dt = 2000 miles/hour note L2 = y2 + a2 2L*dL/dt = 2y*dy/dt so dy/dt = L/y *dL/dt = √(y2 + a2)/y *dL/dt = √[1 + (a/y)2] * dL/dt = 3202miles/hour
